While name-and-shame tactics can be put to positive effect, they can also easily backfire and do more harm than good. We need to learn the art of being disagreeable in the most agreeable possible fashion.

by Ali Abunimah

What is the best way to smear Palestinians and Palestine solidarity activists and get away with it?

That is the question David Bernstein, Executive Director of the pro-Israel propaganda group, The David Project, asks in a surprisingly frank article titled “How to ‘Name-And-Shame’ Without Looking Like a Jerk” posted on Israel Campus Beat, a website sponsored by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

Bernstein writes:

One of the more controversial tactics in a growing effort to counter the delegitimization of Israel is to “name-and-shame” – to go after those who actively delegitimize Israel and seek to delegitimize them.

There are even those, such as British journalist Melanie Phillips, who argue that our entire strategy should be to relentlessly attack the other side and to cease “defending” Israel.

While name-and-shame tactics can be put to positive effect, they can also easily backfire and do more harm than good. We need to learn the art of being disagreeable in the most agreeable possible fashion.

Hiding vilification behind a veneer of “civility”

Bernstein offers advice on how to be as insincere as possible in order to undermine Palestine solidarity work, especially on college campuses:

  • Start every critique with supportive words for peace or free discourse or both.
  • Don’t accuse anti-Israel forces of anti-Semitism unless they openly vilify Jews; accuse them of being anti-peace for opposing Israel’s right to exist.
  • On campuses and other places where anti-Israel groups act in a disruptive manner, write and promulgate civility petitions calling on all parties to engage in a respectful discussion. If the anti-Israel groups sign it, then they constrain their future actions; if they don’t, they can be accused of being uncivil.
  • In taking on an anti-Israel professor on campus, don’t focus on the substantive arguments they make. That will make you look like you’re trying to stifle discourse. Instead, accuse them, in the words of Professor Gil Troy, of “academic malpractice” for propagandizing the classroom.
  • When someone on campus justifies Hamas or Hezbollah, call them out by asking a question: Do you really support the Hamas charter’s call for killing Jews? Can that ever be justified?
  • Avoid indictments against all Muslims or Islam; preface any criticism of a Muslim radical group with an acknowledgement of peaceful Muslims.

No one should be fooled by the mask of civility – Bernstein makes clear that the goal is to “delegitimize” and marginalize, not to actually engage in “civil” debate.

The David Project’s dirty tricks

The David Project has a long history of dirty tricks. Indeed, the group was a key actor in the slander and fabrication campaign against Columbia University Professor Joseph Massad, part of the unsuccessful effort to deny him tenure (Massad explains the background in a statement on his website after his list of publications).

More broadly, the effort to “name and shame” Palestine solidarity activists is part of the broad “anti-delegitimization” efforts underway by American Zionist organizations at the suggestion of The Reut Institute, an Israeli think-tank which in 2010 called for a campaign of “sabotage and attack” on activists and organizations.

In October 2010, the Jewish Federations of North America – an umbrella for 157 major pro-Israel organisations – and the Jewish Council on Public Affairs launched a $6 million initiative called the “Israel Action Network” to fight “delegitimization” – a strategy that will undoubtedly include “name and shame.”

As I wrote for last December in “Defending Palestinian solidarity”:

I got a foretaste of what the Israel Action Network’s tactics will likely be when Sam Sokolove, the head of the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, launched a failed effort to get academic departments at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque to withdraw their support for a lecture I gave in November. Sokolove’s campaign involved publicly vilifying me in the media, likening me to a member of the Ku Klux Klan. It is probably because of the publicity the Jewish Federation gave me that hundreds of people attended my talk.

We can thank Bernstein for his honesty in explaining to us what Israel lobby tactics amount to: personal vilification hiding behind a thin veneer of calls for “civility.” It’s a further sign of the bankruptcy of so much “pro-Israel activism.” It is not so much “pro-Israel” as anti-Palestinian. It has no positive message to offer whatsoever, certainly not one of peace.

Melanie Phillips named and shamed

One final note of irony. In his piece, Bernstein cites Melanie Phillips, a very prominent pro-Israel advocate in the UK who has routinely attacked and vilified many people who have spoken up for Palestinian rights.

Last week, Phillips left her position at The Spectator under a cloud: the publication was forced to make several high profile apologies for Phillips’ totally false attacks against several people and organizations for alleged anti-Semitism or criticism of Israel. Phillips has been particularly virulent in her Islamophobic attacks on British Muslims, as Mehdi Hasan of The New Statesman reports.

GORDON DUFF : “Popeye” History — Enslaving a Generation Sun, 19 Jun 2011 07:27:49 +0000 Debbie Teaching cartoons as truth

By Gordon Duff / My Catbird Seat

Little teaching goes on in schools, even less happens in homes.  Popular culture teaches our children as it reeducates and propagandizes our adults.

Simply examine the terms.

Few remember the 1950s.  Music tastes, then, as especially now, were dictated corporations who bribed disc jockeys to play mindless blither.  The scandal was called “payola.”  With so much good music out there, then at least, millions were unaware that “factories” were producing the utter crap they were listening to and buying, crap they learned to love, crap that has since disappeared.

There is nothing left of the thousands of “hit songs” from the 1950s, almost all have simply gone away, not worth stealing, not illegally downloaded even.

The same people who “did” our music, built the rest of our culture too, a culture built on mythology, a hokey form of phony patriotism and totalitarian ”brain washing”  based on the carryover of cheap wartime propaganda.  Think tanks with unpleasant globalist political agenda’s reinvented America by controlling our education and culture.  This is me discussing the issue with Daryl Bradford Smith a couple of years ago…

YouTube – Veterans Today -

We became slaves and today have awakened, some of us at least, an in Orwellian nightmare.  Most, however, are still asleep, watching the evening news, looking “left” or “right” for direction in the world of “tweedle dumber” politics.

Remember “Popeye?”  In his cartoons, the wartime versions I would see as a child, he destroyed Japanese planes by the dozen, beat cartoon Hitler’s senseless, wiped out entire armies after eating his magic can of spinach.

YouTube – Veterans Today -

I would like to tell you that “real history” had corrected the inaccuracies of these childish depictions, worse propaganda than our enemies ever stooped to but that would be wrong.

Discussing truth is so controversial, so dangerous that no academic will do it.  In most of the world it is simply illegal.  But, if we are going to step into it, let’s go all the way.

Let’s talk “Hitler.”

I spent alot of time in Germany.  Germans either hate Hitler, or the older generation, mostly gone now, will say, “He was OK then he went crazy.”

I have heard it a hundred times.

Historians, those who work at universities are cowards.  Controversy means loss of tenure, firing or worse.  The list of history professors fired for accurate research of World War II is there but not publicly seen.  Other researchers know and are warned.  “Don’t go there.”

“Keep teaching the “Popeye” version of history.”
And they do.

I have had the opportunity to discuss World War II with moderate, liberal German professors in private.  All are willing to stick to the rules.  None question a single word about the Holocaust.  All are silent about the Nuremberg trials and all damn Hitler.  All also point out that there are areas they would like to have redressed, areas where they are forced to teach lies that serve no purpose at all other than to debase the German people.

They all are quietly outspoken on this narrow area.  They are sick of having to live lives of shame because of Hitler.

Then, of course, David Irving came along.  Irving was Britain’s “pop culture” historian, a brilliant and tireless researcher, a top TV personality and a great writer.  As long as he stayed “on target” with the “Popeye” version of history, his books sold, he pulled in wealth by the ton and was beloved by all.

Then he decided to write about Hitler.

We had all seen odd things about Hitler.  Germany, while the rest of the world floundered, was an economic miracle under Hitler.  Historian, author Len Deighton touches on this from time to time.  Brits were starving, malnourished, Americans the same and German children, under the Nazis, were cared for, their teeth were fixed, they got exercise, decent diets and all graduated from their equivalent of high school while most Brits were illiterate and few Americans got past 5th grade.

Hitler did wonders, but then, he was insane and did nothing but talk about killing Jews and plotting to take over the world.

We all know this to be true because Popeye says so, that and hundreds of TV shows, movies and our history books.

Irving got himself into trouble, so much trouble he actually ended up in prison.

He found that Hitler wasn’t Hitler at all.

Hitler was, as Irving discovered, the Osama bin Laden of his day.

Most Americans believe bin Laden to be a monster, a figure out of a Popeye cartoon.  I could tell you that bin Laden was never a terrorist, never had followers, never admitted complicity in 9/11.  Most wouldn’t believe it.  If you want to read what I have written and see the documents supporting same, Google can help you down that path.

The bin Laden Americans know about is a cartoon character that never existed.  He was invented to support the idea of a series of useless wars, financial crimes and rigged elections in the US.

If you want to know how the game works, look up the name “Smedley Butler.”  Use Google, it will work just fine.  Do this now if you will, come back and finish the rest, should you think it worthwhile, afterword.

Prepare to be embarrassed. We all started out the same place, not just you.  I was there too.  I hate my teachers for the lies they told.  Some knew better.

Yes, the 1950s, with McCarty and the FBI looking for communists under every bed was a bad time for honest, decent people.

Because so few spoke up then, today is worse.  We have nothing left but lies.

Let’s hand out another assignment.  If you haven’t heard of Dr. Ingrid Zundel, it isn’t important.  She is German.  She is confrontational.  Ingrid just doesn’t care.  This makes her honest.  It also makes her enemies.  Dr. Zundel writes a very different version of some events.  Read them here. You don’t have to believe them.  That’s the whole point.  You don’t have to believe anything.

That’s how you got there in the first place, believing things people told you that simply weren’t true.  Saddam didn’t have WMDs. There was no Al Qaeda, still isn’t.  Osama bin Laden wasn’t a terrorist.  He wasn’t killed in Pakistan, not a chance on that one.  (good or bad, he died years ago)

I talk with his CIA and ISI handlers, people I know well.  What we are told is so far from the truth, well, learn for yourself.

Then start the road to learning about 9/11.  Read David Ray Griffin, Jeff Prager, Christopher Bollyn.  Read me.  Listen to Dimitri Khalezov.  Learn about “Building 7.”

If you wonder about the price of our silence, consider the Kennedy killings.  Recently, a powerful and compelling case has been made for the relative innocence of Sirhan Sirhan in the killing of Robert Kennedy.

As for JFK, Americans have been battered into shameful silence, a beloved president, considered by many the greatest man of our time, murdered.  We were bullied into accepting a “9/11? type coverup, childish in scope, as with 9/11, not only defying reason and logic but physics as well.  Oswald’s “magic bullet” act is still a TV regular, every season mythologists have to resell the 6.5mm Carcano as a weapon capable of exploits beyond science fiction.

The end price may well have been more than just the Vietnam War and a generation of America’s best and brightest destroyed, not 50,000 but more like a million, or by recent counts, even more.

Then start thinking about David Irving, someone mostly forgotten and learn why writing about Hitler, the most famous man in world history, sent him to prison.  What did Irving learn?

Today, millions of Americans would gladly see former President George “W” Bush arrested and imprisoned, even executed.  My guess is that a majority of Americans feel that way.  You will never read it but I hear it every day.  He is as hated as Hitler.  He is seen as responsible for the destruction America has suffered, certainly not entire cities flattened as with Nazi Germany under Hitler but thousands killed.

It is a good guess that most Americans believe Bush planned the 9/11 murders.  People don’t hold polls on things like that except, once in Australia they did.

So, if the news tells you that people who think 9/11 was a government conspiracy are a minority of “nutters” and you find they are a large majority instead, what do you learn.  Anthony Lawson did an excellent video about this issue.  I am going to link it up here.  Lawson is a fun guy and this will help lighten things up.

YouTube – Veterans Today -

If you like this, go to and find Anthony Lawson’s channel.  Some of his best videos have been removed because of censorship.

That should make you afraid.  If not, keep reading.

A year ago, former professional wrestler and governor or Minnesota, Jesse Ventura did a television show exposing 9/11 as a government conspiracy.  I don’t always like everything he does but here, Ventura hits one “out of the park.”  I wrote an article about it, nothing fancy, simply put up his video and made a few comments.  The video is a masterpiece.

The article I wrote hit so much traffic, it shut down our counter after a few hours.  Total reads topped well over 6 million with the article mirrored over 25,000 times around the world.  I only wish I had taken more than 15 minutes to write it.

But, the article wasn’t about me, it was about truth.  People weren’t buying me, they had a rare chance to hear and see the truth, incontrovertible proof that the American government hadn’t just lied but had done something terrible and blamed Osama bin Laden.

The article has a series of videos and is available here.

I will put the 43 minute video up for you to see.  Take this rare opportunity to do something with your children that might help form their lives into something we can all be pound of.  Teach them to question.  Be a real parent.

YouTube – Veterans Today -

This takes us back to Hitler, the “bin Laden” of his day.  If what we are told of Hitler is correct, a painful question or it should be, some of us know that Stalin was worse.  What few of us realize and Irving proved is that Stalin invented the version of Hitler we know today.

What if what we know about the worst person in the world was told to us by someone even worse than them?

So, why did Irving go to prison.

Here is a photograph of a coin.  This is a clue:

What if I could prove Osama bin Laden was innocent? I can.  I have witnesses, members of the US intelligence agencies and FBI who are willing to testify that bin Laden always worked for the US.  I have documents that prove he was never the person Americans were told to fear and hate, that Bush and Cheney invented the whole thing, just like they invented so much else.

In fact, it wouldn’t take much effort to prove Bush and Cheney to be war criminals.  In fact, they aren’t allowed to travel outside the US because they face arrest for war crimes now.  To go anywhere, most members of the Bush administration require guarantees they won’t be arrested.  Dozens of top US officials are on arrest lists, wanted by war crimes tribunals around the world.

Ah, but I digress…

What did David Irving find about Hitler that made people want to destroy him, silence him.  Irving used to make millions selling his books.  You can now download them free, most of them.

Irving proved that “Hitler” was not “Hitler.”

Do I want to turn the world upside down?  Not really.  We have problems today and, unless you are a poor German or a Palestinian being imprisoned because someone in Israel feel Stalin’s version of history gives them “cover” to run an apartheid state, well, you can see where this is going.

Is truth worth sacrifice?

Here is the deal.  What if news is controlled.  What if, even the “best of it” is nothing but lying propaganda, lies built on lies?  What if every decision you made, your ideas about America, your ideas about truth, your votes, even who you think you are, we are, is based on bare faced lies so convoluted, so evil, so wild and distorted that you might eventually feel you have spent your life as a character in a Matrix movie?

Then, then you would finally begin to understand.

Ofergate: The Latest Zionist Propaganda Blitz Against Iran Fri, 10 Jun 2011 18:42:06 +0000 Debbie The origins of this hasbara will be dealt with in a moment. The first question is, why would the American government, which is dominated and controlled by Zionists of every known type, from WINEP to AIPAC, ZOA to AJC, Brookings to CFR, release information about an Israeli company doing business with Iran?

by Jonathan Azaziah / Mask of Zion

From the moment that the Islamic Revolution of Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini and tens of millions of Iranians toppled the Israeli-US-UK-backed Shah and defeated the CIA’s counterrevolution, there has been a sustained campaign of violence, propaganda and subversion against the Islamic Republic of Iran. This campaign, naturally, has been led by the Zionist entity with crucial support being provided by America, Britain and a handful of strategically installed Arab dictators.

It began on September 22, 1980 when Saddam Hussein invaded Iran at the behest of the Zionist Power Configuration in Washington, initiating the genocidal Iran-Iraq War. Over one million Iranians were slaughtered and more than 400,000 Iraqis were murdered in the Western-backed war of aggression on the revolutionary Iranian nation. The war was designed by an Israeli-American-Saudi-Kuwaiti axis, in an attempt to depict Persian Iran as the enemy of the Arabs, protect US-Zionist oil interests (1), crush the Islamic Revolution and of course, to replant a Shah-like dictator friendly to Zionism and the West. Saddam was bankrolled by the House of Saud to the tune of half a billion dollars during the war and received critical intelligence support as well as assistance in piloting missiles against Iranian targets from the usurping Israeli entity’s Mossad (2).

As the war dragged on and the civilian body count continued to rise, the Zionist media introduced its most prolific lie: the story of Israel providing advisors for and selling weapons to Iran during its war with Iraq in the amount of $500 million. The Islamic Revolution repeatedly and vehemently denied the story as Zionist propaganda aimed at distorting Iran’s image in the Arab world and misdirecting Arabs from absorbing the inspiration of the Revolution (3).

The only sources for this ridiculous, slanderous, concocted $500 billion figure: the UK newspaper ‘The Observer,’ a subsidiary of the Zionist-owned Guardian, TIME Magazine, an infamous, long-standing asset of the Zionist Power Configuration’s propaganda machine, Ronen Bergman, a prominent Israeli journalist with deep ties to the Zionist intelligence establishment and who composed an entire book labeling Iran as the ‘world’s most dangerous terrorist power,’ bashing its people, its Revolution and its peaceful nuclear program (4) and the Jaffe Center For Strategic Studies at Tel Aviv University, an institute that has been run by Aman, Israel’s military intelligence agency, since its opening (5). Zionist fingerprints everywhere; the evidence of falsehood regarding this weapons deal is thoroughly overwhelming.

Ayatollah Khomeini

In reality, the Israeli (and American) weapons used by the Islamic Revolution in its struggle against Saudi-US-Mossad-backed Iraq had been delivered to the Shah in his multiple arms purchases from the West long before 1979 (6). In reality, the Zionist entity continued its clandestine support for Saddam Hussein after the war that devastated Iran and Iraq both and conducted multiple attempts to assassinate Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini (7).

In reality, the Ayatollah had been the only Muslim leader in his time (excluding the martyred revolutionary Iraqi leader Abdul Karim Qassem) to speak against the Zionist colonization project in Palestine and the only Muslim leader to stand up to the Zionist-occupied American government’s hegemony in the region. It was Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini who supported Resistance throughout the region and it was the Ayatollah, who started the tradition of ‘Al-Quds Day,’ to raise global awareness for the Palestinian struggle and demand the unequivocal liberation of the holy land from Zionism, something that he considered a top priority (8).

Immediately following the triumph in 1979, throughout the Iran-Iraq war and after its end, all the way until now in the present day, the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK) organization that once fought alongside the Islamic Revolution has waged bloody war against it after Ayatollah Khomeini expelled its leadership for sedition. It fought with Saddam Hussein from its Camp Ashraf base in northern Iraq, which it set up under American and Israeli protection. And since 2002, it has worked intimately with Mossad and the Zionist Project for a New American Century to destabilize Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program (9). Meanwhile, its terrorism against the Islamic Republic’s civilian infrastructure has been brutal. Since the fall of the Shah, MEK has murdered at least 16,043 Iranians (10).

The most notorious selection of Zionism’s propaganda against Iran in recent years is the 2009 Iranian presidential elections, without question. Despite massively-adored nationalist-populist incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad winning by landslide proportions (63.3% or 24.5 million votes) over his Western-backed opponent Hossein Mousavi, the Zionist media unleashed an onslaught of reports that the elections were stolen, with absolutely, positively no evidence.

Israel was not happy when Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the 2009 Iran elections by a landslide.

The entire leadership of the vastly powerful Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish American Organizations, the Zionist entity’s Foreign Ministry and the Zionist-owned pro-Israel institutions of CNN and the New York Times demanded even harsher sanctions against the Islamic Republic in the wake of the elections (11).

Meanwhile, the streets of Tehran were on fire as Mousavi and his ‘Green Movement’ followers staged violent, destructive demonstrations in protest of Ahmadinejad’s victory, much to the delight of the neo-conservative, Israel-firster cabal that controls America’s foreign policy. However, it didn’t take long for the truth to emerge from the shadows. The Green Movement was part of a Bush-era destabilization plot against the Islamic Revolution worth $400 million (12), and it was being fully directed by the CIA and the Zionist-founded, Zionist-run National Endowment for Democracy (13).

There of course, are the ever-present criminal sanctions that have been escalated year after year since the fall of the Shah. The most detrimental piece of sanctioning legislation to hit the Islamic Republic is the AIPAC-backed ‘Iran-Libya Sanctions Act’ of 1996. It has utterly crippled Iran’s aviation industry and due to the Persian nation’s inability to import the proper parts for its airplanes, thousands have died in plane crashes since the 1996 act’s implementation in the geopolitical arena. The sanctions have turned Iran’s commercial airliner fleet into the pinnacle of insecurity (14).

But the Zionist’s entity’s wars, assassination attempts and sanctions have not broken the will of the Revolution. The aggression has not brought the Revolution to its knees, the Revolution has rejected the concept of groveling to Zionism as the Shah did so faithfully. Though mass murdering war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu has disturbingly labeled Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the successor of Ayatollah Khomeini, the ‘greatest threat to world peace (15),’ the Zionist entity has changed its tactics over the last 18 months, reverting to espionage and the hasbara blitzkrieg of the 1980s to smear Iran in the eyes of the Muslim/Arab world.

The Stuxnet Virus, the Israeli-created malicious program that is now wreaking havoc all over the world (16), was first unleashed on Iran in an American-Israeli plot that has significantly damaged Iran’s industrial sectors in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars and brought its peaceful nuclear energy program, which it was developing as an alternative to the oil-dominated energy market, to a screeching halt (17).

Iran was heavily targeted by the ‘whistleblower’ group known as Wikileaks, which stunk of COINTELPRO from the moment that it emerged in the Zionist media and has now been fully debunked as a CIA-Mossad intelligence operation (18). Wikileaks released scores of ‘secret documents’ that absolved Israel of any malice in occupied Iraq, instead blaming everything on Iran (19), a lie of epic dimensions repeated often by every Zionist think tank in the US and UK. Wikileaks, led by Julian Assange, an asset of Zionist media giant and warmonger Rupert Murdoch and a darling of the godfathers of the illegitimate Israeli state, the Rothschilds (20), has been lambasted by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a ‘psychological warfare operation (21)

Recent endeavors of the Zionist media include ‘revelations’ about Ahmadinejad’s Jewish roots and ‘shocking discoveries’ of the six-pointed Israeli star engraved in a building in the main square of Tehran. Needless to say, both stories are pathetically false, with the latter being the work of Zionist-owned Orwellian internet behemoth, Google, and were released to sow discord, unrest and chaos within the Islamic Republic (22).

None of Zionism’s manipulations and falsehoods however, could even remotely compare to what its media released to the detriment of Iran on May 24th, 2011.
Hasbara Galore: Israel-Iran Trade and the Ofer Brothers

The Israeli Ofer brothers are at the heart of a scandal that has more to it than meets the eye.

The story surfaced and immediately sent ripples throughout the globe. The United States announced new sanctions against seven companies for business transactions processed with the Islamic Republic of Iran. One firm from Monaco, one from Venezuela (a ‘hostile environment’ as far as the US-Israel nexus is concerned), another from Singapore, another from the UAE, two connected to Iran itself and one… from the Zionist entity (23). The idea that an Israeli company was doing business with its bitter, despised enemy, Iran, was a hard enough pill to swallow. But this was no ordinary firm. This firm was owned by the Ofer Brothers Group, as in the brotherly duo of Sammy and Yuli Ofer, reportedly known to be the Zionist entity’s wealthiest men (24). This added another layer of strange to the story.

The snake of hasbara reared its ugly head in the blink of an eye, and a torrential downpour of bizarre ‘breaking news’ was at every corner of the Zionist entity’s newspapers. The reports started coming in at lightning speed, and what started as ‘Ofergate’ evolved into a mutated media monster about actual trade relations between Iran and Tel Aviv: 13 ships owned by the Ofer Brothers had docked in the Islamic Republic over the course of a decade, and a relationship was established with the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (25), 200 Zionist companies had financial links to the Islamic Revolution’s energy sector (26), hundreds of Israeli firms (and American firms also) conducting business with Iran via sub-companies (27), and the most outlandish of all, that Iran trades marble, cashews and pistachios with the Zionist entity for Israeli organic fertilizers, pierced irrigation pipes, hormone-boosting milk products and seeds and that an Iranian Agriculture Ministry official traveled to Tel Aviv to thank it for the business (28). Outrageous. Undeniably outrageous.

The origins of this hasbara will be dealt with in a moment. The first question is, why would the American government, which is dominated and controlled by Zionists of every known type, from WINEP to AIPAC, ZOA to AJC, Brookings to CFR, release information about an Israeli company doing business with Iran?

The first answer is simple. The American government wouldn’t unless it was told to do so by its Zionist puppetmasters. The second question is in two parts: why would the Zionist Power Configuration want such information released? And, wouldn’t this information be excruciatingly damaging to the usurping regime’s efforts to force military action against Iran? The answer to the second part is also a simple one: no, absolutely not, because it is an indisputable fact that Zionists control the media and a scandal of this magnitude can be buried just as quickly as it is ‘excavated.’ Additionally, Zionism’s subversive activities against the Islamic Revolution haven’t been deterred by this story in the slightest, nor has its power over Western governments been diminished.

The answer to the first part has been summed up perfectly and succinctly by Chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines (ICCIM), Mohammad Nahavandian:

ICCIM Chairman Mohammad Nahavandian.

“News about activities of Zionist firms in Iran is a new game started in reaction to the willingness of certain countries to establish economic ties with Iran. Several countries have expressed their willingness to increase economic interactions with Iran following the global economic crisis. They cannot deprive themselves from the growing economy in Iran. In addition to a legal ban, Iran regards Zionist firms and their policy makers as the main factors behind economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic and refrains from making any deal with them (29).”

It is no secret that Iran has taken a proactive approach in the MENA region and established solid financial and diplomatic ties with the majority of the MENA nations, including those experiencing upheaval. The Islamic Revolution is treading in territory that the Zionist entity allows nothing and noone to tread in: the global commerce system. MENA, where Iran, an Islamic regional power, has a vested interest in, is being prepped for destablization and mass neoliberalism via the ultra-powerful supranational financial institutions known as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development {EBRD} and the European Investment Bank {EIB} (30). To keep Iran far away from its EBRD and EIB projects, Zionism released these allegations through its media to once again drive daggers into Iran’s reputation.?

Israel unleashed its most prolific hasbara fellows for 'Ofergate.'

As was the case with the venomous Iran-Israel weapons deal propaganda during the Iran-Iraq war, only with more prevalence here, all sources for ‘Ofergate’ originate from the Zionist entity: Yossi Melman, well-known columnist for Haaretz with abyssal ties to Shin Bet, IOF, Mossad and Aman; Tel Aviv University and Haifa University, both schools are entrenched in Israel’s military society, with each of them graduating their fair share of Knesset members, Prime Ministers, Mossad officials and IOF officers; and the Israeli-Arab Friendship Association, a capitalist, neoliberal think tank-type organization that whitewashes occupation and Palestinian suffering in the pursuit of profit. Liars, propagandists, exploiters, hasbara fellows, warmongers and more liars. It is also of grave importance to note that the Israeli government and Shin Bet rule the media sphere with an iron fist, issuing gag orders on ‘national security’ matters and revoking publishing licenses when need be (31). If the Zionist leadership didn’t want the aforementioned band of liars to publish this information, it wouldn’t have been published. Period.

While it is clear that the media’s coverage of ‘Ofergate’ is a hasbara operation of the highest degree, part of a greater demonization and isolation agenda that Israel and its Western stooges have pursued against Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, there is still another aspect to it; a darker aspect. An intelligence aspect. An aspect highly worthy of comment due to the implications it has for the future of Iran.

The Mossad Angle: All-Out Infilration

Mossad, through the Ofer Group, has orchestrated an all-out infiltration of the Islamic Republic.

The immense wealth of the Israeli Ofer Brothers is by no means the most troubling point of ‘Ofergate.’ What is most troubling is what lurks beneath the Ofer Group exterior. It is more than ‘just’ a multi-billion dollar global holdings firm intricately interconnected with various banks, chemical companies and oil refineries. It is the owner of Zim Integrated Shipping Services (32), a firm connected to Mossad’s false flag attack on 9/11. One week before the Towers were brought down in a controlled demolition, Zim, which was 50% owned by the illegitimate state of Israel at the time, paid $50,000.00 to break its lease with no explanation as to why (33). Due to Zionist war criminal and author of the Patriot Act Michael Chertoff’s control of the Justice Department before, during and after 9/11, Zim was never investigated (34), nor was the Ofer Group for that matter.

The Ofer Group hasn’t just done favors for the Zionist intelligence-defense establishment in the past, it is the Zionist intelligence-defense establishment; forever at the service of the Israeli state, a major asset for all Zionist apparatuses. In the highest ranking corporate positions of the Ofer Group, there are senior officers of Mossad and IOF (35). This information is critical to the greater picture.

The day that the Zionist media’s psychological warfare began, Deputy Managing Director of Iran’s Port and Maritime Organization Mohsen Sadeqifar rejected all of the Israeli entity’s claims, stating “Ships belonging to shipping lines of the United States and particularly the Zionist regime have never entered Iranian ports during recent years. Iran’s Commerce Ministry or the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration have issued no license for any US or Israeli ship to dock in Iranian ports (36).” There is no reason to doubt what the Port and Maritime official states; logically, it checks out. The Islamic Republic of Iran represents Resistance to Zionism and its American marionettes, it would never, ever grant shipping licenses to what the Iranian leadership commonly refers to as ‘arrogant powers.’ At least… not knowingly.

The coverage of 'Oferagate' is just a cover for an abyssal Zionist intelligence operation.

The Mossad-Aman-IOF-linked Ofer brothers have categorically denied that they sold ships to the Islamic Republic (37). Additionally, ex-Mossad director, war criminal and murderer Meir Dagan seemed nervous in downplaying ‘Ofergate,’ by saying nonchalantly that the media was ‘blowing it out of proportion’ but sternly refusing to elaborate further (38). This grants great credence to what was discussed in the previous section: the Israel-Iran ‘trade’ story is sheer concoction. And it is now known that this concoction is serving as a deflection. It is a cover-up. An operation within an operation. Its first purpose: smear Iran, cripple its financial ties abroad. Its second purpose: damage control for the Zionist entity’s infiltration of the Iranian nation.

As is the case in occupied Iraq, where at least 70 Zionist companies that work directly with Mossad are profiting off of Iraqi suffering under Arabic, Turkish, Kurdish and English names (39), it is now confirmed that the Ofer Group’s ships, in classic Mossad fashion, were also sailing into Iranian waters under foreign flags to cloak their identity (40). Hence, why the Islamic Revolution may have granted licenses to an Arabic, Turkish, Kurdish or English shipping company that was actually an espionage front for the Zionist entity. There is also the strong possibility, that no licenses were granted at all, and the Ofer Group spy ships penetrated Iran’s sovereignty in a typical display of Zionist intransigence.

Aboard these spy ships were numerous Mossad agents, including agents involved in the assassination of Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai (41), Black Hawk helicopters and hidden Israeli commandos to pilot the copters for reconnaissance missions against Iran (42). This would explain how the usurping Israeli entity managed to insert its agents within the fabric of the upper echelons of the Iranian defense sector to carry out assassinations of several nuclear scientists as well as the planting of the Stuxnet virus.

This operation is one of utmost severity. Shortly after ‘Ofergate’ broke out, the racist Zionist institution known as the Knesset convened for an investigation into the matter. The meeting orchestrated by the Knesset Economics Committee, led by Likudnik Carmel Shama-Hacohen, came to an abrupt halt in the beginning of the proceedings when Shama-Hacohen was passed a mysterious note seemingly requesting the shutdown of the investigation. It was unprecedented in the history of the Knesset (43).

Yaakov Amidror: Netanyahu's national security advisor and former Ofer official.

?The author of the note was none other than the Zionist fascist Yaakov Amidror, Netanyahu’s current national security advisor, former head of the IOF’s military colleges, former Aman agent, and stunningly, former board member of the Israel Corporation, Zim Integrated Shipping Services and many of its subsidiaries, all of which are owned by the Ofer family (44). Amidror was shutting down unnecessary political meddling in a vast intelligence operation designed to breach every part of Iranian society and take down the Islamic Revolution from within, piece by piece, facilitating the easiness of a military strike.

Iran and its righteous, steadfast people must remain more vigilant and more aware than ever. The Mossad assets of ‘Ofergate’ are still at large and they must be expelled, captured or executed, whichever comes first, if the Islamic Revolution and its Resistance wish to advance into the realm of a peaceful future.

Conclusion: The ‘Great Persian Conspiracy’

The greater Israeli strategy is to split Sunni and Shia, Persian and Arab, and pit them against one another.

At the very core of ‘Ofergate’ and all of the Zionist entity’s 30-year aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran is the orientalist-planted idea of a ‘great Persian conspiracy.’ It is the historical orientalist-colonialist concept of ‘the other,’ that which is ‘different’ is that which is dangerous. The basis: Persian Iran, predominantly comprised of Muslims from the Shia school of thought, seeks imperial dominion over all of the Arab world which is predominantly comprised of Muslims from the Sunni school of thought.

It is the narrative that the Gulf States used in collusion with the US and the Zionist entity against Iran in the Iran-Iraq war. It is a narrative with no intelligent basis. It is a narrative that is lacking, entirely, in evidence. It is a narrative of lunacy. And it is a narrative that has been rejected by the people of the Arab world. 90% of the Arab populace supports Iran, its peaceful nuclear program and its stance on the liberation of Palestine. 88% of the Arab populace views Israel as the region’s greatest threat and 77% of the Arab populace views the US as the next greatest threat (45). The opinions of dictators, monarchs and autocrats, which were forged by their Western controllers to begin with, have been drowned out by the insight and intelligence of the Arab people.

There are no Iranian bases scattered throughout MENA. There is no Iranian depleted uranium; no Iranian white phosphorus. There are no Iranian banks seeking to financially demolish societies through neoliberalism. There are no Iranian occupations. There is no genocide at the hands of Iran. There is no Iranian lobby. There is no Iranian monopoly over the world’s media.

On the other hand, the US is illegally occupying Iraq, and, though it isn’t part of MENA, Afghanistan also. Over 3 million civilians have died in these genocidal endeavors. The US has its troops stationed on giant, illegal military bases throughout the majority of the Arab world, most prominently Qatar and Bahrain, home of the US 5th Fleet, where a peaceful protest movement is being systematically brutalized through murder, torture, kidnappings and military trials at the hands of the monstrous Khalifa family and its GCC allies (46). The US, UK and France are leading a criminal bombing campaign in Libya. And all of this Euro-American criminal activity, is at the behest of the Zionist entity, its neoconservative/neoliberal agents placed within the highest places of government, its immensely influential lobbies and its media. The Zionist entity itself criminally occupies Palestine, parts of Syria, parts of Lebanon and has consistently sought an expansionist agenda since its illegal creation 63 years ago.

Israel destroyed Iraq. It deeply desires to inflict Iran with the same kind of carnage.

No nation has suffered from this expansionist agenda (and the Shia vs. Sunni myth) more than occupied Iraq, which has been destroyed beyond recognition by the Zionist entity’s elite intelligence operation known as ‘Fission Field Warfare (47).’ Despite the Zionist-induced carnage, the Sunni and Shia of Iraq have rejected sectarianism, instead standing together from the onset of the occupation to fight and expose it and those who would benefit from it, i.e. Zionism and its allies (48). It is by no means coincidental, that one of the leading advocates for the invasion of Iraq, who spread the most consequential lies (including sectarianism) for the furtherance of the Zionist agenda, the former Israeli occupation soldier, columnist for The Atlantic and hasbara fellow Jeffrey Goldberg (49), is now attempting to spread the very same lies to trigger events that would lead to balkanizing Iran. And for whose benefit? For Israel of course, and all of its slavish Arab dictatorships (50).

?The Zionist entity longs for a military confrontation with Iran, whether directly like Lebanon or by proxy like Iraq. The Zionist entity will not be content until Iran, and its closest Arab ally, Syria, are ‘dealt with’ like Libya is being ‘dealt with,’ according to genocidal, xenophobic Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman (51). Dealing with Iran the ‘Libya way,’ would mean incessant ‘shock and awe’ bombardments carried out against Tehran’s civilian population with depleted uranium, white phosphorus, smart bombs and helicopter gunships on a nightly basis, as Tripoli is experiencing now (52). The Israeli regime has already drawn up plans to strike 3,100 targets in the Iranian cities of Isfahan, which has a population of over 1.5 million, and Natanz (53).

Meanwhile, the subversion continues. As if being a target of the Zionist entity’s Wikileaks operation wasn’t enough, Iran is now under cyber attack from a group called Anonymous, a network of ‘hacktivists’ who would like the world to believe they’re fighting for truth, justice and freedom for all. This is nothing more than a front. They’re not. They’re launching open warfare on the Islamic Revolution’s servers for the US State Department, the NSA and the CIA (54). And now, with Sammy Ofer, one half of the Ofer Group, Mossad’s multi-billion dollar asset, ‘passing away of an unknown illness (55),’ or, in this author’s opinion, being assassinated for admitting publicly that his company has carried out missions for the Zionist ‘state’ on previous occasions (56), expect Mossad to increase its criminal activity inside Iran. Possibly more assassinations. Possibly more MEK terror attacks than ever before. Also expect Iran to increase its defenses ten fold.

On June 3rd , the Islamic Republic spent the day mourning (and celebrating) to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini’s passing (57).

The late leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Sayyed Ruhollah Khomeini (rip).

The revolutionary leader’s accomplishments, courage and piety will stand the test of time as legendary, inspiring Muslims and non-Muslims alike from all different backgrounds, from all over the world. It is fitting to close with the wisdom of the late Ayatollah:

“We Muslims are busy bickering over whether to fold or unfold our hands during prayer, while the enemy is devising ways of cutting them off.”

Let this quote serve as an example for all Muslims throughout the globe, specifically those living under the tyranny of occupation. Divisions, ethnic, religious or otherwise, benefit nobody but the oppressors. The ‘great Persian conspiracy’ is a great lie, perpetrated by the world’s imperial and financial powers to split Arabs and Persians apart while their resources are gobbled up by the aforesaid powers and their Islamic culture is butchered. The great Zionist conspiracy however, is exceedingly real and it must be defeated for justice to reign on this planet.

Ayatollah Khomeini feels the same, hence why he once said, “The Zionist regime occupying al-Quds will vanish from the pages of history.” Indeed it will. It is simply a matter of time. And thanks to the Islamic Revolution in Iran, which has inspired the Resistance of Lebanon, Somalia, occupied Kashmir, occupied Palestine and countless other activists, sheikhs, scholars, bloggers, writers, fighters and poets worldwide in the fight against international Zionism, that time appears to be sooner rather than later.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu : Calls on Jews and Israelis to oppose the Occupation of Palestine Wed, 08 Jun 2011 04:19:46 +0000 Debbie Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions is working, despite the enormous pressure brought to bear by reactionary vested interests, because decent people and honourable institutions and organizations are doing what is right.

The archbishop knows, better than anyone, the similarities between the old South Africa and present-day Israel in terms of human rights abuses inflicted upon the respective indigenous populations.

Israel, under Netanyahu’s extreme right-wing government, is moving towards fascism, with all its attendant racism. Read the Israeli press for confirmation of this. No amount of falsehoods, whitewashing and disimulation by Netanyahu government can disguise the dreadful abuses suffered by Palestinians who have suffered 44 years of military occupation.

Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions is working, despite the enormous pressure brought to bear by reactionary vested interests, because decent people and honourable institutions and organizations are doing what is right.

TIM KING : Shall We Outlaw Observation of the Holocaust? Sun, 15 May 2011 07:08:31 +0000 Debbie Living with the Nakba revisionists- our sunshine is not for franchise.

by Tim King / My Catbird Seat

SALEM, Ore.) – Each year as we approach 15 May, Palestinians and humanitarians all over the world but particularly those in Palestine, observe the Nakba (Catastrophe) Day that marks Israel’s 1948 creation in historic Palestine. This happened 63 years ago. Fleeing the events of the Holocaust in Europe, those behind the establishment of Israel displaced more than 700,000 Palestinians, forcing them into different Arab countries, the West Bank, Gaza, and into graves. More than 500 historic Palestinian villages were razed during the Nakba and the destruction of private property in Palestinian hands continues frequently to this very day. This behavior of Israel’s led to almost five million Palestinians becoming refugees, many among them fully destitute.

Westerners regularly observe the tragedy represented by the Holocaust that wiped out human beings in Europe and Asia by the million.

There are endless movies, museums, school programs, and lists of resources for those who want to study the Holocaust and learn about this terrible time for Jewish people and many other cultures.

However in Israel if you seek to honor the Nakba event, the resources are limited to a pair of shiny silver handcuffs, though they might just use those terrible tie things that they like to bind the wrists of Iraqi citizens with.

Israel Rewriting History?

The ‘Nakba bill’ levies state fines against local authorities and state-funded bodies that organize or fund events commemorating the Palestinian ‘catastrophe’ of Israel’s creation in 1948.

I agree that the numbers regarding the Holocaust could be different from what many claim, but nobody will ever convince me that it isn’t the most atrocious catastrophe in world history. There is no way to put our minds around that kind of cruelty, and we believe this because we have been educated, the facts and figures and images have made us all an indirect witness to the Nazi savagery.

The Israeli government is outlawing observation of the Nakba, and I have to say that the connections between Nazi doctrine and Israel’s politics are startling.

The obvious intent of this Israeli law is the denial of education, and let’s just come out and say it: a dismissal of facts.

But what Israel would like to throw to the wind, refuses to take flight. The Palestinians will no more let this history slide into obscurity, than the Jews let the Holocaust fade from our minds.

It typifies the disrespect that the Palestinian population there is afforded. It doesn’t amount to much. We already know that there are separate laws and roads and other governmental services for Jews and non-Jews, and that bigotry does not begin or end with the Palestinian Arabs.

Also in the gun sights of Israel ‘hasbara’ policy are Christians, and Jewish people who don’t subscribe to the madness of Zionism. (Zionist Jews believe that they have a right of return to Israel through Biblical prophesy, and it is ironic because they in turn deny Palestinians the right of return)

A Palestinian woman, living in the Bourj El Barajneh refugee Camp in Beirut, Lebanon, clinging to her identity, holds up her ID card. (Rania Matar)

Matters like this should never arise. They frustrate and aggravate and fail to address responsibly or adequately, the terrible tragedy of the theft of Palestine, based on Israel’s establishment.

On the 23rd of March this year, Israeli media reported the Israeli parliament’s passage of two bills that ban events commemorating the Nakba and restrict residency in the Galilee and Negev.

The ‘Nakba bill’ levies state fines against local authorities and state-funded bodies that organize or fund events commemorating the Palestinian ‘catastrophe’ of Israel’s creation in 1948.

The bill was criticized for vague language that prohibits any activity “which would entail undermining the foundations of the state and contradict its values.”

The bill, proposed by lawmakers from the right-wing party Yisrael Beiteinu, was revised from a three-year prison sentence to a fine of three times the event’s cost, which would double if it is violated again within two years.

That is not the only proposed change to existing law. A second bill establishes ‘admissions committees’ for communities of less than 400 families in the Galilee and Negev.

Ma’an News Agency writes:The committees are legally authorized to reject potential residents based on a number of criteria, including failing to fit in with the community’s “socio-cultural” character.

The bill was also revised from its original form, proposed by Yisrael Beiteinu and opposition party Kadima, in which its provisions were not restricted to the Galilee and Negev, nor a maximum size of 400 families. An amendment was added banning rejecting residents based on “race, religion, nationality or physical handicap.”

The Nakba bill was supported by 37 members of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, and opposed by 25, and the residency bill passed by 35 to 20.

The bills sparked furious debates on the Knesset floor, with United Arab List parliamentarians slamming the bill as racist and uproar over allusions to Nazi persecution of Jews, with Knesset member Uri Ariel of National Union yelling at UAL lawmakers, “Go back to Ramallah,” according to reports in the Israeli press.

After the bill passed, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel immediately filed a petition claiming the bill sanctions discrimination against Arabs, Mizrahi Jews, amongst others, referring to cases in which members of these communities were rejected by admission committees without explanation.

The following Sunday, more than a dozen Israeli intellectuals issued a statement criticizing the Nakba bill as against “the principle of separation of powers.”

Another person who was aboard the Mavi Marmara just less than a year ago as it was ruthlessly attacked by the Israelis, is Haneen Zoabi, Palestinian member of the Knesset.

She told The Electronic Intifada:

“Law will not influence the way we commemorate the Nakba. On the contrary, we must prove to our people and to the state that we will not be afraid from this law and that this will not succeed in oppressing our feeling or our identity. We will commemorate the Nakba in a much more impressive way this year than we ever did.”

Zoabi continued, “This is a kind of law to control our memory, to control our collective memory. It’s a very stupid law which punishes our feelings. It seems that the history of the victim is threatening the Zionist state,”

Elected in 2009, this Arab Knesset member represents the Balad party (National Democratic Alliance). She is the first woman to be elected on the list of an Arab party in Israel. She was one of 25 members of the Israeli Knesset (MKs) to vote against the bill on 22 March, compared to 37 MKs who voted in favor of it.

“The Nakba is not just part of the Palestinian history,” Zoabi explained.”

“It’s also part of the Jewish history of this land. Because you need two in order to make Nakba. You need the victim and you need the oppressor. It was the Israelis who expelled the Palestinians and destroyed their towns and their villages and stole their land.”

Human being tend to not take things like this in stride, There are simply too many wound up activists, millions of pissed off Arabs in the Middle east and worldwide, the dissenting Knesset members, the opinions of reknowned scholars, and then that nagging element called “world opinion.”

This business of outlawing the observation of tragedy, particularly an event that led to such a massive Diaspora, is in part what has led to the Third Intifada which kicks off in just a few hours.

Israel has pushed and pushed and remained relentless in its pursuits of subjugating the native Palestinians, who had always lived with indigenous Middle east Jews throughout history, right up until the Nakba in 1948.

There are many interesting developments taking place. Turkey has officially requested the names of the Israeli Defence Forces soldiers who stormed last year’s Freedom Flotilla, killing nine unarmed peace activists in international waters, who were passenters and crew of the Mavi Marmara which our writer Ken O’Keefe of Gaza, was aboard.

This is particularly interesting because a film released a few months ago, “Valley of the Wolves- Palestine”, is specifically about a Turkish ‘Rambo’ style character who, along with his team, hunts down the IDF military assassins that attacked the Mavi Marmara, and blows them right into oblivion.

Never has a film shown so many members of the Israeli military being killed.

After losing nine citizens to Israeli bullets last year, Turkey’s government remains extremely supportive of Palestine, and it isn’t alone.

Egyptian activists will protest the illegal Israeli siege on Gaza, vowing to express their solidarity with the Palestinians living under Israeli occupation.

And don’t forget the bond of brotherhood that exists between all of today’s Revolutionaries and Resistance fighters in the Middle east.

They have been fully exploited and violently treated for too long. It might be time to put the seatbelt on.

Israel’s decision to outlaw observation of the Nakba is an outrage; it bespeaks a hate for those who are different.

It also is perfectly consistent with the apartheid laws that Israel expressly enacted to maintain a degree of prejudicial control over a population that lived on the land now called ‘Israel’ for hundreds and hundreds of years.

We are raised to understand that this type of treatment for human beings is not acceptable, but is one group’s needs ever more important than the next?

The Israelis will tell you that yes, their needs are more important than the Palestinians, that is because they are raised to believe they are literally superior, and we ‘Goyam’ are here to serve them. This is Zionism, and it absolutely does not represent the belief system of every Jewish person. In fact more Jews than ever are speaking out and verbalizing the disassociation with the Zionists, inspired by Theodore Hertzl, who had been an anti-semite prior to becoming the founding Godfather of the modern Zionist movement.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs

For me, all of this discussion; the establishment of a nation on other people’s land, the resulting Diaspora that continues in force today, inevitably leads back to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs; a theory in psychology, proposed by Abraham Maslow in his 1943 paper A Theory of Human Motivation.

Many psychology students are familiar with Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs; it is a theory of psychology that Maslow proposed in his 1943 paper, A Theory of Human Motivation.

Wikipedia describes Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a pyramid consisting of five levels:

The lowest level is associated with physiological needs, while the uppermost level is associated with self-actualization needs, particularly those related to identity and purpose.

The higher needs in this hierarchy only come into focus when the lower needs in the pyramid are met. Once an individual has moved upwards to the next level, needs in the lower level will no longer be prioritized. If a lower set of needs is no longer be met, the individual will temporarily re-prioritize those needs by focusing attention on the unfulfilled needs, but will not permanently regress to the lower level.

For instance, a businessman at the esteem level who is diagnosed with cancer will spend a great deal of time concentrating on his health (physiological needs), but will continue to value his work performance (esteem needs) and will likely return to work during periods of remission.

Israel Won’t Transfer $89 Million in Funds Owed to Palestinians Wed, 04 May 2011 19:37:34 +0000 Debbie Officials Say PA Must Prove Money Won’t Be Used for Terror

Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz

Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz announced today that his government will stop all transfers of cash owed to the Palestinian Authority, starting with $89 million in funds they were due to send in the next week.

The move came in the wake of Israeli threats to stop transfers as punishment for the reconciliation deal reached last month between Fatah and Hamas. Steinitz said that the “burden of proof” was on the Palestinians to prove that any money wouldn’t be used for terror.

Under current agreements, the Israeli government collects a number of taxes for the PA and is supposed to transfer them regularly. In practice, this cash has been withheld whenever Israeli officials objected to internal policy moves.

US congressmen also suggested last week that they may withhold aid to the Palestinian Authority as retaliation for “shunning peace talks.” The US-brokered talks actually ended in September, when the Israeli government restarted settlement expansion. Israeli officials had repeatedly suggested new talks were “impossible” long before the reconciliation.

MAZIN : WESTERN MEDIA FRENZY ABOUT OSAMA BIN LADEN Tue, 03 May 2011 12:36:38 +0000 Debbie Bin Laden’s assassination and the continued state terrorism practiced by the US government and its allies, especially Israel, attempt to entrench the idea of violence as an answer.

By Mazin Qumsiyeh / My Catbird Seat

There is a western media frenzy about the reported “taking-out” of Osama Bin Laden (the previous ally turned enemy). Israeli papers reported a high level US security official as saying his instruction was not to capture Bin Laden alive but to liquidate him.  But everyone already knew this would be the case,  since it would be a messy business if the US soldiers captured such a person alive (he may even spill the beans on his US and Pakistani  intelligence links).  Most people went about their daily lives of apathy.  Even the stock market did not go up as pundits predicted.  Soon the dollar will resume its downward spiral.

The US military may feel vindicated and Pakistanis will feel their country’s sovereignty challenged. Some may choose to retaliate with violence giving the Neocons and Neoliberals their excuse to pursue their policies.  After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the military-industrial complex needed a new enemy to sustain its massive structure and conveniently the “Islamic terrorism” materialized. Of course there are fanatical Muslims (and Jews and Christians and Hindus) who are willing to kill. Yet, the US did not have to invade Iraq and Afghanistan and create more such fanatics.  But a more sober analysis shows that things will change. Bin Laden was killed a while ago not physically perhaps but as an idea! The idea suffered significant blows by the Arab Spring revolutions which showed that it does not take violence to change our societies and remove US/Israeli backed dictators.

Bin Laden’s assassination and the continued state terrorism practiced by the US government and its allies, especially Israel, attempt to entrench the idea of violence as an answer.

The brutal assault on Syrian, Yemeni, Saudi and Bahraini demonstrators and the US continued military attacks in countries around the world are part of this human foolishness.  They represent that wing of our global society that believes violence is the answer: the win-lose scenario. The hopeful ideas of popular resistance, freedom, democracy and end to exploitation successfully challenged the notions of “clash of civilization” and “might makes right”.

We thus remain hopeful despite all the false news planted around us and all the false-flag operations, and despite the 1 million Iraqis and 50,000 Afghans killed by these wars.

Here in Palestine, most people went about their lives focusing on how to find the next loaf of bread under Israeli colonial occupation.  Hardly a mention was made of Bin Laden.  If we take just one village called Izbet Al-Tabib, a tiny village of 247 residents (60% of them children), we see one example of what was on people’s minds.  The Israeli decision to take their land was met with building a protest tent on the threatened land and trying to make their story known.

The Israeli military came and attacked the villagers and the international volunteers severely, injuring an elderly American woman and arresting three other internationals (see ). At night more than 200 soldiers invaded the village terrorizing its population to try and stem the growing popular resistance. Please join the villagers this Thursday for solidarity starting at 1 PM.

Last night, the Israeli army arrested several Palestinians in major cities including Bethlehem (this happens regularly in defiance of the Oslo accords and with knowledge of “Palestinian security” forces).

In a few days, there will be events and commemorations surrounding the Nakba day.  The Nakba is the Palestinian catastrophe etched into every living Palestinian mind.  It is the fact that from January 1948 to the end of 1949, more than 2/3rd of our people who lived in the land that became the (Jewish) state of Israel were ethnically cleansed.  63 years later, nearly 7 million Palestinians are refugees or internally displaced people. This is the largest and most tragic and persistent post world war II atrocity.

FRANKLIN LAMB : Panic from the Houses of Congress and Aipac? Sat, 30 Apr 2011 20:41:09 +0000 Debbie Netanyahu, the conferees were told, wants Congress to flex its muscle with the White House and deliver a strong message to President Obama that his political future is tied to Israel’s.

By Franklin Lamb

On April 13, 2011, more than a dozen Israel “First, last and always” US congressional leaders from both houses of Congress held an urgent conference call organized by the pro-Israel Lobby, American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac).  Their purpose was to discuss how best to promote Israel during next month’s US visit by Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu and more importantly how to confront the rapidly changing Middle East political landscape. One consensus was that no one saw it coming and that is was dangerous for Israel.

Among those participating were former Jewish Chairman of powerful committees including Reps. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), who headed the Banking Committee; Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), ex-chairman of the Commerce and Energy committee; Howard Berman (D-Calif.) ex-chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee; and Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), ex-chairwoman of the foreign operations subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee as well as Eric Cantor, House Majority leader, the highest rankling Jewish member of Congress in history.

What AIPAC operatives reportedly told the conferees was that Netanyahu is once again furious with President Obama and outraged by what he sees as a vacillating US Government attitude towards Israeli needs. They were told that the Israeli PM sees real political danger for Israel in the shifting US public opinion in favor of the young sophisticated attractive Arab and Muslims increasingly seen on satellite channels from the region who remind the American public of their own ideals.

Netanyahu, the conferees were told, wants Congress to flex its muscle with the White House and deliver a strong message to President Obama that his political future is tied to Israel’s. Hence the current “America needs Israel more than ever stupid!” campaign wafting from the Israel Lobby across the talk radio airwaves.

In addition, as more Israeli officials are indicted for various domestic crimes, and some harbor fears of arrest for international ones, 68% of the American Jewish community, according to one by poll commissioned last month by Forward, believe the US Israel Lobby is increasingly fossilized with the likes of ADL (Anti-Defamation League) director Abe Foxman’s vindictive infighting among several of the largest Jewish lobby organizations which continue to lose  memberships, especially among the young.

Congressman Eric Cantor lamented that “Israel is badly losing the US College campuses”, despite heavy financial investments the past few years to curb American students growing support for Gaza, Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, all dreaded symbols of the growing opposition to the 19th Century Zionist colonial enterprise. Support for Palestine is skyrocketing he claimed. “Until Palestine is freed from Zionist occupation no Arab or Muslim is truly free of Western hegemony,” according to one assistant editor of Harvard University’s student newspaper, the Crimson.

Admitting that the Mossad did not foresee even the Tunisian or Egyptian uprisings some Aipac  staffers, of whom there are more than 100, admit to not knowing how to react to the topics they were presented with for discussion, some of which included:

  • The Egyptian public emphatic insistence that the 1978 Camp David Accords be scrapped and that the Rafah crossing be opened.  The latter has just been announced and the former is expected to be achieved before the end of the year.

  • The change of regimes and the dramatic rise in publicly expressed anti-Israel sentiment and insistence that Israel close its embassy and Egypt withdraw its recognition of the Zionist state.

  • The apparent rapprochement between Fatah and Hamas which has been increasingly demanded by the Palestinians under occupation and in the Diaspora.

  • The fact that the new regime in Cairo is seeking to upgrade its ties with Gaza’s Hamas rulers as well as Iran.

  • With respect to possible PA-Hamas rapprochement, U.S. National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor is trying to reassure Israel before Netanyahu’s visit by announcing this week that “The United States supports Palestinian reconciliation on terms which promote the cause of peace, but to play a constructive role in achieving peace, any Palestinian government must renounce violence, abide by past agreements, and recognize Israel’s right to exist.”

AIPAC, frequently knocks heads with the Israeli embassy in Washington for control of visiting Israeli PM’s and important governments schedules will control what Netanyahu says and does.  AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr recently told a group of visiting Jewish student activists from California that “sometimes there is confusion in this town over just where the Israeli Embassy is located but let me assure you it’s no more than 300 yards from the Capitol Dome on North Capitol Street, NW.”

AIPAC, not the Israeli Embassy will write the final draft of Netanyahu’s speeches including the themes he will emphasize.  According to a Congressional  source with AIPAC connections, Netanyahu’s visit will focus on the following:

  • Bashing Iran to please the White House. However, this mantra will have to compete with   the democratic revolutions that are sweeping the Arab world and which are terrifying not just Netanyahu, but also AIPAC and their hirelings in congress.
  • Warning against the dangers to “the peace process” of any PA-Hamas unity government.
  • Warnings about the threats to Israel from Egypt and popular calls for scrapping of the  1978 Camp David Accords, ending the Egyptian subsidy and supply of 40% of Israel’s natural gas, calls for closing the Israeli Embassy, the dangers of permanently opening the Rafah border crossing “that will allow Hamas to in the words of, an Israeli official speaking on condition of anonymity to the Washington Post that Gaza’s Hamas rulers had already built up a “dangerous military machine” in northern Sinai which could be further strengthened by opening the border.
  • The tried and tested bromide that “Israel has no peace partner to negotiate with will be used but this too has lost its bite given that the Palestine Papers has shown that the PA for five years habitually caved into Israel demands and are widely viewed as collaborators with Israel in preserving the status quo– so what more could be expected from them? The truth is that Mahmoud Abbas and Salem Fayyad are Netanyahu, Leiberman’s and Barak’s favorite “peace partners.”
  • Netanyahu will hint at and AIPAC will drill in the idea that the Obama administration has been too hard on Israel.

While Netanyahu announced this week that “I will have the opportunity to air the main parts of Israel’s diplomatic and defense policies during my visit in the United States”,informed sources report that his main goal and timing of his visit is to undermind a rumored initiative that President Obama’s team has been working on.

Netanyahu, according to AIPAC, also plans to attack the UN’s plan to admit Palestine  and its offices are preparing a media blitz in an attempt to undermine the U.N. recognition of  Palestine  by arguing that such a General Assembly action would not in reality mean Palestinian sovereignty over the West Bank and East Jerusalem  because of the fact that Israel currently controls those territories. Aipac is arguing that such United Nations recognition of Palestine would only reiterate the principle, previously articulated by the U.N which denies the legitimacy of Israel’s claim to territories acquired by force in the war of June 1967.

In reality, and as AIPAC well knows, UN recognition of Palestine would have a devastating effect on Israel’s legitimacy and would fuel an international campaign to force every colonist out of the West Bank. Given the feelings of virtually all people in the Middle East and North Africa toward Israel this could dramatically undermine the apartheid state. Aipac and Israel’s agents in Congress also ignore the fact that the U.N. is the only the international body that admitted Israel as a member state in May 1949, although the resolution noted a connection between Israel’s recognition and the implementation of resolution 181 of November 1947, which called for partition of what had been British Mandate Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states.

The reason that intense angst and even fear stalks the Houses of Congress and Aipac is that Netanyahu will remind his hosts in the coming days that Israel has always called “home” is that some US officials are starting to express treasonous thoughts long kept to themselves.

One seemingly shocking statement was made to a visiting Oregon delegation during a recent visit to Congressional offices by a Member of Congress never known for being publicly critical of Israel.  As reported via email:  “He said recent events suggest that while ( the revolts spreading across the Middle East) are not the immediate  end of the State of Israel, he believes they are harbingers and signal the  ‘beginning of the end of the State of Israel as we have known it. And that will be good for America and humanity.”

“What seems to  have particularly upset him was his own  mentioning to the group was a recent report about a conference of Rabbis in Israel who are demanding the expulsion of non-Jews, especially Palestinians, from occupied Palestine in order to maintain the “ethnical and religious purity of the peoples of Israel.

He quoted Dov Lior, the rabbi of Kiryat Araba, an illegal settlement near Hebron, who according to media reports told a conference organized to discuss how to get non-Jews in mandatory Palestine to leave the country for the sake of Jewish immigrants who had no roots in Palestine: “Today there is a lot of land in Saudi Arabia and in Libya, too. There is a lot of land in other places. Send them there.” As scholar Khalid Amayreh reminds us, it was Lior, who in 1994 praised arch-terrorist Baruch Goldstein for massacring 29 Arab worshipers at the Ibrahimi Mosque in downtown Hebron, said peace in the Holy Land was out of question because the Arabs wouldn’t allow Jews to usurp the land.

Meanwhile, a large coalition  of pro peace and pro-Palestinian organizations, under the umbrella of is preparing a new and different American reception for the Israeli Prime Minister.

UPDATED VIDEO : No-Fly Zone over Gaza — Petition Tue, 26 Apr 2011 17:10:07 +0000 Debbie

NOTE: As you may already know, the Petition video has been removed by Youtube team. According to the e-mail and guidelines I received, it is the “shocking or disgusting content” of the  Gaza Tonight  Music video by Michael Heart: “We Will Not Go Down (Song for Gaza)”, which I used. The video which has had over 1.5 million hits on the original website and thousands more on others and which are still up there. It makes you think, doesn’t it.

I would suggest those without the stomach to view such images should do something to stop the carnage in Gaza.

No-Fly Zone Over Gaza — Petition from Anthony Lawson on Vimeo.

No issue in modern history has endured more words, more speeches, more conferences, more peace initiatives, more promises, and more photo-ops, than Israel’s 44 year illegal occupation of over 3 million Palestinians.

World Governments and International Bodies have failed to bring an end to this occupation and establish a free, independent Palestinian State for refugees in their own land.

Thus it is up to us, you and me, people from around the world to stand up and demand an end to this illegal occupation that has thus far paralyzed and humiliated the world, our humanity, and what we all believe in, justice for all.

Signing is the simplest activism for justice for the Palestinians. Let your name and signature be the weapon for peace and justice for the Palestinians and peace and security for the Israeli people. A free Palestine means a secure Israel.

Thank you.

Please sign this Petition now, tomorrow may be too late for someone:

BDS MEANS FREEDOM, JUSTICE AND SELF-DETERMINATION Fri, 22 Apr 2011 11:16:43 +0000 Debbie In the past five years, the BDS movement has witnessed a spectacular and robust rate of growth in international civil society and among people of conscience around the world.

Omar Barghouti

Daniel Meyerowitz-Katz’s ill-informed and manifestly misleading attack on the Palestinian-led, global movement of boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel contained several misrepresentations and some outright fabrications. The historical account given by Meyerowitz-Katz is not only skewed; it is a typical attempt to obscure or omit altogether the basic facts about BDS.

An overwhelming majority of Palestinian civil society issued the BDS Call on July 9, 2005 as an effective, non-violent strategy to end Israel’s violations of international law and Palestinian rights. This civil, peaceful and inclusive struggle, largely inspired by the successful South African anti-apartheid movement, is based on international law and universal principles of human rights.

The BDS movement’s objectives are justice, freedom and full equality for all, irrespective of identity attributes. The aim of the BDS campaign, specifically, is to pressure Israel to comply with its obligations under international law, namely by: withdrawing from all Arab lands it occupied in 1967, including East Jerusalem; implementing full equal rights for the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel; and respecting the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes as stipulated in UN Resolution 194.

Mischaracterising the internationally mandated return of indigenous Palestinian refugees uprooted and dispossessed by Israel during the Nakba, the 1948 campaign of ethnic cleansing, as “a sudden influx of millions of immigrants” is unarguably false and deceitful.

The reality is Israel is a state that, according to several annual US Department of State human rights reports, maintains a system of “institutional, legal, and societal discrimination” against its Palestinian citizens. This system of legalised and institutionalised racial discrimination fits the international definition of apartheid in the Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crimes of Apartheid and the 2002 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

According to Adalah, the Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel, there are at least 20 Israeli laws that discriminate against Palestinian citizens of Israel. These encompass the vital domains of land ownership, state education, and infamously, the “Law of Return” – which excludes anyone who is not Jewish. And all this is not even to mention Israel’s military occupation and colonisation of the West Bank or its illegal siege of the Gaza Strip, which has recently been called a “prison camp” by British prime minister David Cameron. BDS is a movement based on universal human rights and as such rejects all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism.

This has been one of the main reasons for the movement’s success, and its wide adoption by human right groups, activists and concerned citizens around the world – including many Jewish peace groups and even some principled and active supporters within Israel, such as the Coalition of Women for Peace and Boycott from Within.

In the past five years, the BDS movement has witnessed a spectacular and robust rate of growth in international civil society and among people of conscience around the world. Many high-profile campaign victories put BDS on the mainstream map in the West. The Derail Veolia campaign, for instance, targeting the French company due to its involvement in the illegal Israeli tram project connecting colonies with Jerusalem, has in less than three years cost the company contracts worth billions of US dollars.

Leading moral authorities, such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, have also widened the movement’s appeal to many around the world. Cultural and intellectual icons of the calibre of Stephane Hessel, Alice Walker, Iain Banks, John Berger, Naomi Klein, Judith Butler, Henning Mankell, Roger Waters, Ken Loach, and Mike Leigh have added visibility to the swelling ranks of BDS support globally. Artists like the Pixies, the Klaxons, Carlos Santana, Elvis Costello, Gil Scott-Heron, leading artists in Faithless and many others have heeded the cultural boycott part of the BDS campaign and refused to perform in Israel.

Many unions around the world have also backed BDS campaigns, including the South African COSATU, the Irish Congress of Trade Unions, the huge Brazilian trade union federation CUT, and the Trades Union Congress in the UK, which endorses a boycott of and divestment from companies that are complicit in Israel’s occupation and colonial settlements. Campaigns aimed at boycotting complicit Israeli academic institutions have also spread, inter alia, in Britain, the US, Canada, India, France, Norway, Spain, Pakistan, Italy, South Africa, Australia.

As the BDS movement has gained more and more successes, the far-right Israeli establishment regarded it as a “strategic threat”. Smear and intimidation campaigns by the proponents of “Israel right or wrong” have increased, but have been notably futile in hindering the movement’s growth. Recognising their inability to rationally and convincingly debate BDS in public with leaders of the movement, Israel’s lobby groups have opted instead to insinuate and slander. Now we are seeing such desperate tactics by the supporters of apartheid Israel in Australia, in light of the courageous decision by Marrickville Council to join the BDS movement.

One of the most desperate arguments put forth by those Israel pressure groups in Australia and elsewhere is that “BDS actually hurts Palestinians”. This is both patronising and pathetically dismissive of the ability of Palestinian civil society to determine its own destiny and rights as well as the sacrifices needed to attain them.

Like the South African majority, Palestinians know well the price to be paid for freedom, for the light of justice at the end of the long, torturous tunnel of colonial oppression and dispossession. The fact that a near consensus in Palestinian civil society, including all the main political parties, unions and NGOs, has existed since 2005 in support of BDS unambiguously expresses the Palestinian’s readiness to pay that price.

Freedom, justice and self-determination are worth every bit of it.

Omar Barghouti is an independent Palestinian commentator and human rights activist and a founder of the BDS campaign.
