Mayor Bloomberg deftly seals fate of Islamic cultural center by appropriating America's symbol of tolerance (Seth Wenig/AP)

In the realm of the impossible is the following statement from Abe Foxman upon learning that Fareed Zacharia, noted Newsweek columnist and Muslim-American, would be returning an ADL award and honorarium in protest of the ADL’s position opposing the Cordoba House Muslim Cultural Center near Ground Zero:

“I am not only saddened but stunned and somewhat speechless by your decision to return the ADL Hubert H. Humphrey First Amendment Freedoms Prize, you accepted in 2005,” ADL National Director Abraham Foxman said in a letter to Zakaria. “As someone I greatly respect for engaging in discussion and dialogue with an open mind I would have expected you to reach out to me before coming to judgment.”

Foxman added that the League “did not oppose the right for an Islamic Center or a mosque to be built” but rather “[made] an appeal based solely on the issues of location and sensitivity.”

“Somewhat speechless?”  Abe Foxman?  Not on your life.  He’s just nonplussed that as a master PR tactician, Zacharia has upstaged and embarrassed him.  The leader I’ve called a “Jewish dinosaur” made political calculations that the Center could be killed and that he’d score points with Republican neocons by joining their crusade.  But when Mayor Bloomberg and even New York Orthodox rabbis took him to task, he was left looking mighty foolish, not to mention like the Islamophobe he is.

Foxman is chagrined Zacharia didn’t “reach out” to him before returning the award–did Foxman reach out to Zacharia before insulting him and his co-religionists by taking his stand on behalf of bigotry?  In claiming he supports the Center, just not the location, Foxman is trying to have it both ways.

As Center supporters like Mayor Bloomberg have made clear, the location of the new building is part of the critical strength of its mission to bridge differences and encourage dialogue among religious traditions. Sure you could put the project in the middle of the East River or Governor’s Island so as not to offend anyone, but what would be the message you’d be imparting?  That we respect Muslims as long as they don’t rock the boat and get in our way.  As long as they retire someplace out-of-the-way they’re OK.

Fareed is a sell-out like Salman Rushde, Irshad Manji, Tarek Fateh, Ayaan Hirshi, Taslima Nasrin, etc.

Fareed’s rise from an obsecurity to CNN and then Newsweek – tells his loyalties towards anti-Islam Zionism.

By refusing to accept the ADL award (also given to Turkish prime minister Erdogan earlier) – Fareed is trying to be another Dr. Tariq Ramadan – “the Muslim Martin Luther King’.

With an open mind? Did Abe Foxman, whose mind has to be opened with a crowbar, really just say that?

Rabbi Arthur Washkow of the Philadelphia-based Shalom Center joined about 30 other religious leaders and Jewish activists Thursday at the location where the Cordoba Initiative hopes to build an Islamic center that will include a mosque, an atheletic center, a school and art studios. Rabbi told the people that the mosque will help people to understand Islam beyond the current Islamophobe narrative.

Rabbi Washkow blasted Abraham Foxman, national director Anti-Defamation League – the pro-Israel Zionist organization’s campaign against the proposed mosque and Islamic Center. Abe Foxman was quoted as saying: “The Cordoba Initiative, has the legal right to build at the site. But ultimately this is not a question of rights, but a question of what is right. In our judgment, building an Islamic center in the shadow of the World Trade Center will cause some victims more pain – unnecessarily – and that is not right.” ADL, which pretends to be an advocate of civil rights – is asically an Israeli PR front. It ran an advertisement in NYT on June 14, 2010 claiming the the Turkish charity IHH behind the Free Gaza flotilla is a supporter of Hamas “terrorist group”. I bet Abe doesn’t want the public to know that it were Israelis and not Muslims behind the 9/11.

Soho Properties, a real estate developer bought the ‘Park51? (aka Cordoba House) site for five million dollars. The plan to build the proposed mosque and the Muslim community center was approved by the New York City Community Board by 29-1 vote. Later, it received the blessing from the NY Mayor Michael Bloomingberg (a Jew), who said: “With or without landmark designation, there is nothing in the law that would prevent the owners from opening a mosque within the existing building. The simple fact is this building is private property, and the owners have the right to use the building as house of worship”.

The pro-Israel Zionist fronts such as ‘Stop Islamization of American’ including ‘Israel-First’ politicians like Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Dick Cheney’s daughter Liz Cheney are leading the anti-mosque crusade. A slide show of these rogues can be seen here.

The 13-storey, US$100 million project has brought out the true racist nature of the pro-Israel individuals and lobby groups.

It is amazing how hypocrisy will always expose itself.

Zacharia did the right thing, and has recovered a bit of esteem in my eyes.
It is the right thing, and it runs against the grain of ADL, even though I am sure he felt secure in having unanimous support when he made the decision.
But as someone remarked, even gestures can be useful and usable in the larger struggle.

Abe Foxman is just another of those “overstuffed not very intelligent people.”

I simply have no regard or respect for Liars, Politicians, or Journalists anymore. They are all ambitious, weak men and women compromised for personal gain and the truth is just not in them.

It is amazing how hypocriticals not only eventually shows its face but so also will Truth and Common Sense, if simply given a chance.

It is an unfortunate failure of mankind, that so few people are perceptive to these subtle changes until they become landslides or great spectacles, with unignorable consequences, usually after demonstrating devastating circumstances.

F.Z. must have some honor in him, to tell the MOSSAD OP called ADL to take back their Gaza Genocide and Organ Harvesting and Shekel Grubber Award for 2005.

Sounds like F.Z. actually may be an alright dude after all, huh?

The defamation league is just ape foxman and maybe a half dozen of his most whiney friends.
    They are a joke.
Anyone who takes any notice of the defamation league is also a joke.
Just point at them and laugh, they will eventually get the message and go away.
